General Rules for Admission
Admission eligibility

The Candidates who have passed H.S.C. examination of the Board of Secondary Education, Orissa or any other equivalent examination are eligible to apply for admission into +2 courses and the students

passing +2 Arts, Science and Commerce for CHSE or any other equivalent examinations are eligible are to apply for admission into +3 1st year Degree Courses.

How to apply
Admission forms and prospectus for 1st year Arts, Science, Commerce and +3 1st year Arts, Science and Commerce can be availed form the College Office on any working day between 10.30 am to 2.00 p.m. with a payment of Rs. 100/- ion person at the college counter or with a payment of Rs. 120/- in the shape of Bank Draft drawn in favour of Principal, Maharishi College of Natural Law, Sahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar required by post.

Admission forms properly filled in should reach the Principal within 15 days of the publication or results of qualifying examination or as per the notice of the Principal. However, the last date of the receipt of application forms for students coming from other states may be extended at the discretion of the college authorities subject to limitations under the CHSE, Orissa / Utkal University regulations and availability of seats. Candidates are advised to apply in separate forms for separate streams / shifts.


List of Documents to be attached with admission form
1. Admission forms duly filled in
2. Cash receipt in support of purchase of admission form (in original)
3. Attested photocopy of SLC/CLC.
4. Attested photocopy of mark-sheet and conduct certificate of qualifying examination.
5. Attested photocopy of case Certificate issued by Tahasildar of respective locality.
6. Any other certificate in support of claiming weightage.
7. A Self-addressed stamped envelope of Rs. 5 of 9" x 4" size. Admission Form incomplete in any respect will be summarily rejected. The candidates should submit the duly filled in application forms in the office on or before the prescribe last date. One may also send by Regd. post to the Principal, Maharishi College of Natural Law, Sahid Nagar, Bhubaneswar - 751007, a week before the last date. The College will not be responsible for any postal delay/missing form

Procedure of selection
Calculation of Marks
Selection for admission into various classes will be made strictly on merit basis and calculation of marks shall be made as per the following.
a. The basic parameter of calculation of marks is the total mark secured by a candidate in H.S.C. Examination of Board of Secondary Education, Orissa, excluding extra optional, if any.
b. The Percentage of mark secured by a candidate who has passed CBSE/ICSE Examination in all obligatory subjects taken together should be taken into account for drawing up the merit list, i.e. the aggregate mark should be appropriately converted.
c. For compartmental candidates average of the two marks in the subjects in which candidate has failed is to be calculated in determining the aggregate.


Weightage
i) National Cadet Corps (NCC)
a) Applicants holding Certificate `A' & `B' shall be given an additional weightage of 5% and 10% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HSC/HS Equivalent examinations excluding extra optional.
b) Applicants who have attended All India Level NCC camps/ courses/activities shall be given weightage of additional 5% marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HS/equivalent examinations excluding extra optional on production of certificate to the effect by the competent authority.

ii) National Service Scheme (NSS) :
a) Applicants who have represented the country in NSS at the International level shall be given admission subject to fulfilment of minimum eligibility condition.
b) Applicants who have received national NSS award shall be given weightage of an additional 7% of marks over and above the aggregate arks secured at the HS/equivalent examination without extra optional.
c) Applicants who have received State NSS award shall be given weightage of an additional 5% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HS/equivalent examination without extra optional.

iii) Rover & Ranger (RR) :
a) Rovers/Rangers possessing and producing the original certificate signed by the President of India shall be given weightage of an additional 10% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HS/equivalent examinations without extra optional.
b) Rovers/Rangers possessing and producing the original certificate signed by Governor of the State shall be given weightage of an additional 5% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HS/equivalent examinations without extra optional.

 

iv) Scouts and Guides :
a) Scouts/ Guides possessing and producing the original certificate signed by the President of India shall be given weightage of additional 10% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HSC/Equivalent examination.
b) Scouts and Guides possessing and producing the original certificate signed by the Governor of the State shall be given weightage of additional 5% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HSC/equivalent examinations.


v) Sports & Games (SG) :
a) Those who have represented the country at international level shall be given admission subject to fulfilment of minimum eligibility conditions.
b) Those who have represented the state at the national level sports/games shall be given weightage of an additional 10% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HSC/HS/equivalent examinations without extra optional.
c) Those who have represented the school at the Inter-State Schools Sports Meet, shall be given weightage of an additional 5% of marks over and above the aggregate mark secured at the HSC/HS/equivalent examinations without extra optional.


vi) Women for Subjects (WS)
Women applicants opting for a subject for which teaching facility is not available in any of the local Women's Colleges shall be given weightage of additional 5% of marks over and above the aggregate marks secured at the HSC/HS/equivalent examinations without extra optional.


vii) Conditions for Weightage :
a) No weightage shall be given in any category if the achievement is not made within two years preceding the date of application.
b) Candidate possessing NCC Certificate `A' & `B' shall not be given weightage if they have failed once and have passed HSC/HS equivalent examination subsequently.
c) No weightage shall be given for attendance/participation/representation at international/national/inter-school level camps/courses in any field if original certificate by competent authorities are not produced.
d) In case of sports and games the Meets where the candidates have participated must be recognised / organised by the Director of Sports/Secretary/BSC/Secretary, CHSE and the participation certificates must be countersigned by the Director of Sports, Government of Orissa.
e) Women candidates availing weightage for a subject shall not be allowed to change the subject subsequently.
f) The total weightage to be given to a particular applicant shall not exceed 10% of aggregate marks secured at the HSC/HS/equivalent examinations without extra optional subjects irrespective of the number of activities in which the applicant has achieved distinctions.
g) Weightage shall be considered along with the academic merit for maximum 10% of seats in each class for which a separate merit list shall be prepared after which the first 90% of seats shall be achieved with distinctions.
g) Weighage shall be considered along with the academic merit for maximum 10% of seats in each class for which a separate merit list shall be filled up purely on merit.
h) Weightage shall be calculated out of the career assessment mark of HSC/HS equivalent examination.
i) Weightage shall be given only for the purpose of admission to the college and not for selection for Honours.
j) Weightage shall be given only for the first admission into first year +2 and degree Classes and not for admission on transfer from other colleges.

Reservation of Seats
Some seats are reserved for different category of applicant as mentioned below. Such seats shall be filled up subject to fulfillments of minimum eligibility condition. Applicants shall be considered for reservation category, if applicable, only for the first admission into First Year HSC/Degree Class, and not for admissions on transfer from other colleges.
i) Schedule Caste / Schedule Tribe (SC/ST)
a) 8% and 12% of the sanctioned strength of First Year Class are reserved for SC & ST respectively. The reserved seats are not interchangeable.
b) SC/ST candidates selected for admission on merit shall not be counted against the reserved seats.
c) In case the number of applicants form among SC and ST category exceeds the number of seats reserved for them, the Principal, at his discretion, may increase the number of reserved seats by another 8% for SC and 12% for ST.
d) SC/ST candidates are required to submit a caste certificate from an MLA/MP or a Revenue Officer not below the rank of a Tahasildar.
ii) Government Servants/Serving Defence Personnel on Transfer (GSOT)
a) 4% of seats sanctioned shall be reserved for the self/children/wife/husband of Government Servants/Serving Defence Personnel on transfer within normal time of admission.
b) Government servants on deputation to any Government/Non-Government agency shall be eligible for the reservation, but Government servants on permanent transfer to corporate owned body shall not be eligible for the concession.
c) A government servant retiring from service and shifting to a place where he/she wishes to reside after retirement, shall be treated as Government servant on transfer.
iii) Physically Handicapped (PH) :
a) 3% of sanctioned strength shall be reserved for physically handicapped candidates.
b) A handicapped candidate shall be considered for reserved seats only on Production of certificate form the Chief District Medical Officer/Sub-Divisional Medical Officer/Chief Medical Officer of Capital Hospital to the effect that he/she has a major orthopedical/physical handicap to the extent of 40% or above.
iv) Bruma Repatriates (BR) :
2% of the seats sanctioned shall be reserved for the children of bonafide Burma Repatriates.
v) Ex-Servicemen (ESM) :
a) 1% of sanctioned seats shall be reserved for the children of bonafide Burnma Repatriates.
b) The facility to avail reserved seats shall be given to ESM only on production of the certificate to that effect issued by the Rajya Sainik Board/Zilla Sainik Board.
vi) Vacancy in Reserved Seats.
After admitting all eligible applicants for the reserved categories the balance of reserved seats, if any, shall be filled up by general candidates. No seat shall remain reserved for any category beyond the last date of regular admission.

Candidates from outside the state of orissa (OSO)
a) The number of applicants from outside the State of Orissa to be admitted into Degree Class shall not exceed 5% of the total number of seats of the class.
b) An applicant shall not be considered to be form outside the state of Orissa if he /she has passed the HSC/equivalent examinations form a school situated within the territory of Orissa or has passed the HSC/HS/equivalent examination with Oriya as a subject.
c) An applicant, whose parents are permanent residents of Orissa, who has passed the HSC/HS/equivalent examination form outside Orissa without Oriya as a subject shall not be considered to be form outside the State of Orissa, provided that he/she produces a permanent Resident Certificate from the District Magistrate/Tahasildar to the effect that his /her parents are permanent residents of the district.

List of Documents in Original to be submitted at the time of admission
1. Intimation Letter
2. SLC/CLC in original
3. Conduct Certificate in original.
4. Mark sheet of the qualifying examination in original.
5. Caste certificates issued by Tahasildar of respective locality in original.
6. Original certificate in support of claiming weightage.
7. Four stamp size photographs.
8. Bank draft of the amount as stated in the intimation letter favouring the Principal, Maharishi College of Natural Law, payable at Bhubaneswar in P.N.B., Sahid Nagar, OSCB, Sahid Nagar.


Important Note
1. No request for extension of admission date will be entertained.
2. Candidates belonging to SC/ST Burma Repatriate, Ex-Serviceman of seeking weightage in any extra curricular activities should mention the same on the top of the application from in Block letters.
3. Candidates desirous of availing weightage in marks either in games and sports any other extra curricular activity approved by Govt. must have achieved the distinction within two years prior to the year of admission.
4. For availing admission under the reservation of seats for an ex-serviceman, a certificate to that effect has to be issued by the Rajya Sainik Board.
5. The participation certificates in games and sports in National/State Level for taking advantage of weitghtage in marks at he time of admission must be countersigned by the Director of sports.
6. Intimation letter will be sent by Under certificate of posting. The candidate must attach a self addressed stamped envelop of Rs. 5/- of size 9" X 14" for the purpose. The/College is not responsible for any postal delay/missing. Candidates are therefore, advised to see the college notice board or enquire in the office in regular intervals.
7. Attested photocopy of each document enclosed with the application from should be signed by the candidate with the words "Submitted by me".
8. In case, forged documents are detected, the Principal reserves the right to forward full particulars of such candidates with the records to the State Crime Branch, Orissa for scrutiny.
9. In no case the total weightage of marks will exceed 10% of the total seats in a particular stream for various extra curricular activities.
10. In case of any dispute regarding interpretation of any rule, the decision of the Principal is final and binding.
11. The admission to the college is purely provisional and may be cancelled in case any irregularity is detected at any stage. No admission can be claimed as a matter of right.
The evaluation in work experience should find the same place of honour and significance as other academic subjects and should enter in the C.H.S.E. certificate. Students must note that besides from fillup work experience is an obligation they have to undergo in order to appear the C.H.S.E exams for details they must consult their courses of study.

Principles of selection of Honours
1. Aggregate marks plus marks in the subject for Honours in either Botany or Zoology. In case of students passing examination other than intermediate examination, the aggregate marks secured by them will be converted appropriately out of a maximum marks of 900 for applicants for Arts and Science Honours subjects and out of 900 for Commerce Honours applicants. Marks secured in extra optional subject in excess of pass marks should not be taken into consideration in selection of Honours.
2. For Botany and Zoology Honours. Biology marks will be considered.
3. Marks secured in English should be added to the aggregate in case of candidates who have changed form Science to Arts or form Science to Commerce or form Arts to Commerce or Form Commerce to Arts.
4. For all Honours subjects minimum marks shall be 40% in aggregate or 40% in the subject concerned. For candidates (except for English) changing form Science to Arts or commerce or Vice Versa 40% ion aggregate only to be considered.
5. In case of candidates for Oriya Honours who had neither Sanskrit nor Oriya as an Optional subject at the International stage, the procedure should be aggregate marks plus two time of the marks in M.I.L (Oriya)
6. In case of Physics Honours, aggregate marks plus marks in Physics plus marks in Mathematics of +2 Examination will be considered.
7. For all Honours subjects; the minimum marks shall be 40% in the concern subject being taken as Honours.
8. a) For Science students offering Economics Honours with Economics as 4th optional the marks secured in Economics or in English or Mathematics (Which ever is higher) are to be added to the aggregate.
b) For students passing +2 Commerce and opting for Economics Honours out of 900 plus the mark in English of Economics which is higher (for no-Commerce students) on the basis of 200 as full marks shall be considered.
Note :

Any clarification other than above will be brought to the notice of Principal. Decision of the Principal, in the matter of admission is binding on all concerned.
